Abraham Munder

Age 79 when abducted

Avraham Munder, a 78-year-old resident of Kibbutz Nir Oz, was taken captive by Hamas terrorists on October 7, 2023, during an attack on the community that resulted in multiple deaths and abductions. On that day, Avraham was forced to kneel on the ground as his wife, Ruti Munder (also 78), their daughter Keren Munder (54), and her son Ohad (then 8) were abducted and driven away.

Fortunately, Ruti, Keren, and Ohad were released on November 24 as part of a temporary ceasefire deal brokered by Qatar and the United States between Hamas and Israel. However, it was only upon their release that they learned Avraham had not been killed but was also abducted and held apart from them.

Tragically, Avraham and Ruti's son, Roee Munder (50), who also lived at Nir Oz, was killed during the attack on October 7. His mother and sister learned of his death through a radio broadcast while in captivity. When Roee was buried on October 22, no immediate family members were present at the funeral or to sit shiva, the seven-day Jewish mourning period, for him.

Avraham is not in good health, relying on a cane and having poor eyesight. His wife, Ruti, along with their extended family, continues to hope and pray for his release. The family has endured significant emotional and physical challenges throughout this ordeal, with the loss of one family member and the uncertainty surrounding Avraham's situation.
